As I navigate these fresh waters of blogging and twitter, I can't help but notice that most of us have quite the affection for the written word. I suppose it makes sense - if we didn't then we wouldn't be doing what we're doing. Almost daily I read something extraordinary here in the internet world, and I'm also learning about how much you are all seem to love to read.
I thought I would share what we're reading here Chez Scott, and perhaps you can leave me some suggestions for what you and your family are dipping into these days. Cookbooks recommendations most welcome, of course.
Jan - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson
Writing Motherhood by Lisa Garriques
The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Brian Selznik (shared reading with Jackson)
Best of Food Writing, various authors
The Craft of Baking, by Karen DeMasco and Mindy Fox
Rob - Open, by Andre Agassi
Ben - All of the Percy Jackson books, by Rick Riordan
Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke
Holes and Small Steps, by Louis Sachar
Anything Calvin and Hobbs
The China Wall, by Johnny Bower
Jackson - Star Wars Lego Visual Dictionary
Maps and Mapping, Jimmy Johnson
The Invention of Hugo Cabret with me!

I just finished two great books - The Book of Negroes and 100 Mile Diet (finally). The first was stunningly beautiful and the latter was surprisingly funny and entertaining.

I am trying very hard to get through The Omnivore's Dilemma by Pollan but non-fiction BORES me! So I intersperse it with some trusty Agatha Christie novels.

Food Rules by Michael Pollan is my go to pocket book these days. It's a follow up from the Omnivore's Dilemma. I also enjoyed Food Inc. in a weird way. Our family is trying organic these days, so it helps reinforce our decision... though, I'm not sure how long it will last. What is everyone's feeling about organic?
