A few weeks ago, Rob and I thought it might be nice to sit down each Sunday evening after dinner, and plan for the week to come. The idea of starting the week well-organized and ready for the next five days was appealing to both of us. We plan our meals, decide who will walk the dog which mornings, who will take the boys to and from school and we discuss what we each need to/hope to accomplish in the upcoming week. This new process has allowed us to maximize our time with the kids, each other and create room for our individual endeavours - something we both value. So far, it's working quite well and I must confess I look forward to our weekly planning session.
After last night's chat, here is what we have on our dinner schedule this week. Rob's evenings to cook are underlined, and our batch cooking meal is listed in italics. This week we'll be making extra meatballs to tuck away in the freezer for the weeks to come.
What are you eating this week?
Monday - Roast chicken, rice pilaf and broccoli
Tuesday - Carrot and ginger soup with turkey sandwiches
Wednesday - Cassoulet with mixed-greens salad
Thursday - Spanish omelette with spinach salad
Friday - Spaghetti and meatballs

I do this (minus dogs and children) and it is the best habit I ever picked up. It saves time and money since I don't have to go to the store every day and try to plan a meal at the same time when I'm tired after work. We grocery shop only once a week now.
