Bad Apple

 

I'm on borrowed time and a borrowed computer this morning as I quickly write to let you know that posting will be on a temporary hiatus for the next week or so, while I deal with a bad Apple.  Not the edible kind, of course, but rather the technological Apple, or more specifically my MacBook.  It seems that the cup of tea I spilled on my keyboard last winter has decided to form a yucky mold on my logic board causing the computer to officially die.  And I'm in mourning.

But in true Jan fashion, I'm trying to see the bright side of things and have decided to take this opportunity to ask you a few questions.  What would you like to see more of here on Family Bites?  Recipes?  Tips?  Book reviews? Product Recommendations?  Event Planning Ideas?  Parties? Food for parties?  Is anything missing or could anything be improved?  I'm really curious what you readers think and would love to hear from you.

I love seeing the pictures of the food you make. I'm definitely a visual person, so I appreciate the photos tremendously. For me, it's a maker or breaker of whether I try a recipe or not.

What I'm most interested in are holiday/party/seasonal recipes and ideas. I liked your ideas for back to school lunches and look forward to Halloween food activites to do with the kids, new Thanksgiving recipes and a Christmas baking showcase! I was thinking of doing some baking this year and would love/need ideas for different types of squares and cookies. You know, like Hello Dollys and the squares with peanut butter and marshmallows.

Of course, I like your stories about the kids - something I can relate to - but most of all it's all about the recipes for me.

I love your site and can't think of additional changes for improvement! The things I particularly enjoy are all the information focusing on family eating and managing feeding a family as a working mom. It is work hard to feed a family (healthly and homemade, where possible), work and do all the other stuff! So the things I really enjoy and appreciate are the family recipes, strategies for engaging your kids in meal times/planning and the great tips (like cooking 2 chickens at a time!). I also enjoy the book reviews (being a cookbook addict!) -- we had never seen the Seven Silly Eaters - the whole family really enjoyed it!

Love the site...sorry to hear about your computer (but now will endeavour not to drink my tea/coffee while pouring (!) over the computer). I will really miss my daily dose of family bites!
