Lots of questions land in my inbox, and no topic generates more email than the subject of parties. It thrills me when people ask for my opinions on the birthday party they are planning, the baby shower they are hosting, or for a recommendation for a good online resource for oversized balloons. I think I've been asked about it all, and while I've hesitated writing about it here too much - this is technically a food blog after all - I can't think of a better time to cover party-themed topics than now, with the winter holidays mere weeks away.

I like to divide the supplies needed into four categories: decor, serving supplies, food and drink and miscellaneous. Not every party requires the same items, but with a list laying in font of me, I'm often reminded of things I will need that I might otherwise forget until the last minute.
