Happy New Year, friends!
The holiday decor has been stashed away for another eleven months, and other than a towering stack of board games and books, most of the Christmas gifts are assembled and in their rightful places. I feel organized and ready to leap into January, eager for the year ahead as I expect to be full of very good things.
I haven't made any resolutions for the coming days, but I have certainly set some goals for myself. I'm hoping that this year my work will continue to be creative and thoughtful, my family will remain happy and healthy and our bellies will be full and satisfied. Beyond that, I'll be content with whatever comes our way.
Last night I sat down to plan this week's meals, and it felt so good to know that we are headed back to a normal routine and eating plan. The daily consumption of chocolate antioxidants, wine grapes and cheese dairy has been good for the soul, but it's time to switch things up a bit and incorporate a few leafy greens and ancient grains.
Here is a list of what will be gracing our dinner table this week. What are you planning on cooking up?
Monday:: Curried lentil soup with homemade soda bread and mixed greens salad
Tuesday:: Pasta a la Mama, iceberg lettuce wedges with buttermilk dressing
Wednesday:: My birthday! Dinner plans to be announced....
Thursday:: Lemon and garlic roasted chicken with sweet potato gnocchi and braised greens
Friday:: Homemade pizza night

Wonderful. All these meals sound like they'd hit the spot! happy new year to you and your family!

Isn't it so comforting to come back to the normal routine? After so many days of heavy food, the greens seem to be calling my name again and again!
