1. It's easy. And it's fun. Your kids love it.
2. It's a great way to rid the fridge of half-used containers of milk, cream, buttermilk and sour cream.
3. No guars or gums. Just wholesome, real ingredients.
4. It makes for a great dinner when the incessant heat holds you back from putting together a proper one.
Tell me, do you make your own ice cream? Would you? Favourite flavours?
5. The creative juices get flowing and experimentation with exotic flavours is quite entertaining. Isn't that why we get into the kitchen to begin with? (the above is a sweet potato ice cream topped with candied pecans)
6. It's a good reason to buy this book. And this one too.
7. It's yummy. Like really, really yummy!
P.S - If you find yourself without an ice cream maker, here's a great article on how to do it without the fancy machines.
I have to definitely concur with it being a dinner substitute!

You had me at hello; homemade ice cream, although I have only had it once, was a transforming experience. I'll say i was kind of upset that I had wasted 24 years on the store bought junk.

My friend just bought a bunch of pint-sized containers for ice cream. We both have been making all sorts of flavors of ice cream and then keeping a pint and sharing a pint with each other. So fun and so yummy! I'm in love with David Lebovitz.

We got an ice cream maker for our wedding and used it all the time (sadly, it broke when we moved). However, I accidentally put the wrong amount of cinnamon into one of the recipes and it tasted delicious. It was supposed to be a chocolate base ice cream with a touch of cinnamon but it ended up being very cinnamony. It was a "good" mistake.

P.S. I received my book today (that was FAST) and it looks absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to try it out! Thanks again.

As I'm reading this, I'm eating homemade peanut butter swirl peanut butter ice cream, straight from the container. I'm doing the Gotta-Stop-Just-One-More-Bite Dance.
