We barely ate at home this past weekend. It was delightful and sad all at the same time. A rare date night for Rob and I led to the boys eating with Nana while we went out to enjoy steak and lobster. Saturday found us two hours from home hiking and swimming and lunch was bought at the nearby farmer's market. Dinner was a sad collaboration of what could be found lingering in the depths of my fridge and pantry - salad and grilled Nutella for the kids and a bistro salad with roasted shallots (oh. my.), topped with an overcooked egg for Rob and I.
We finished out the weekend with morning smoothies and a quick pasta lunch made with peas, pesto and generous grinds of ground pepper and then headed out for a celebratory birthday dinner with Rob's side of our family. The one that was made up of five people when I met him and now includes a total of fourteen (soon to be fifteen) wonderful souls.
What did you eat/cook/make/buy this weekend?
Grilled Nutella? Yum! My kids are just discovering Nutella this week and they love it.
What did we eat? Hot dogs from a vendor uptown, ice cream from Dairy Queen and then a yummy potluck at a neighbours.

Croaker, an ugly fish easily caught in the Chesapeake bay, marinated and grilled to flaky perfection.
