Daylight Savings (and the Homemade Breakfast Sandwich) Do you have any idea how hard it is to take a decent food photo in the evening? I'm spending my daylight hours tucked away in an office planning parties for the entertaining elite, and I have to say, it's really inhibiting my ability to take a great picture of something I've cooked. So, it seems as though I may have to do all of my photography in the mornings (at least until Christmas) in order to capture a little bit of natural light. Which brings me to today's breakfast. A simple morning sandwich. I'm amazed at what people will pay to purchase this exact same thing from their favourite coffee shop. Bite-Size Gingerbread Houses Like many families, we begin our holiday celebrations on December 1 with the opening of an advent calendar. Our homemade version is made up of Christmas activities, both big and small, and the boys take turns opening the little envelopes each morning to see what fun awaits them that day. There could be activities based on the kid's request (make latkes to celebrate Hanukkah), outings for all of us to enjoy (a trip to a Church to see a play that's in it's 73rd year), or little things to do at home to celebrate the season.
