(Julia Child's French Onion Soup, photo from here)
Inspired by the front cover of the newest issue of Food and Wine magazine, I've decided that the theme of our meals this week will be French Classics: Family Style.
It's no secret that my love for all things French runs deep, so why not dedicate an entire weeks worth of simple meals to the topic? These won't be the dinners you'll find in a fancy French restaurant, but rather the ones inspired by the families I knew when I lived in the South of France.
Here's what I'm planning to cook. What are you stirring up in the kitchen this week:
Monday:: Pureed butternut squash soup with gruyere croutons
Tuesday:: Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, brussel sprouts with lardons, green salad
Wednesday:: Quiche Lorraine, green salad
Thursday:: Soupe au Pistou with endive and pear salad
Friday:: Steak frites with caramelized shallots
PS - Julia Child's French onion soup didn't make the cut because my boys won't eat it. Instead, I'm making it for my lunches. I do believe it is the very best soup one can make and I look forward to the many bowls I'll enjoy this week.
Sounds like a delicious week at your home. Then again I have the feeling that every week is. Enjoy.

Thanks, Paula! So far so good, with the French food. The kids love the soup last night.
