It's December 6th. I'm certain the calendar read November 15th last time I really checked. Now, here we are into the first week of the last month of the year, and only 19 days away from the 25th. Are you ready?
I would say I'm in good shape. Not ready, but on my way. When I think of ready, I don't define that by the number of gifts I've got hidden around my house or even purchased. Instead I think of meal plans that have been made, gingerbread that's been baked, cookies that are tucked into tins in the freezer and empty wine bottles that are taking up space in the storage shed. That's truly a sign that I'm almost ready, for the more wine that's consumed the more merry making I've been doing.
Speaking of doing, I thought you might be interested in some of the articles I've been posting elsewhere. I'm writing a blog for the What's Up Families magazine website once a month. Last month I shared my ideas for 5 ways to plan a successful party. If you're still thinking of hosting an event there may be a helpful hint or two for you there.
Over on the Savvy Mom Eat Savvy blog we've been baking and baking (hello, s'mores fudge!), and sharing a few thoughts on some more controversial family food topics. Nutella vs. chocolate frosting? Check. The rise of the price of peanut butter? Check. BPA in the lining of soup cans? Check. Is pizza really a vegetable? And are we being too serious? Check.
Over on The Huffington Post I was taken to task for feeding my kids bacon. I honestly love the comments I get in that space. They're hilarious and thought provoking, and I'm so glad I write there.
If you have a December birthday baby, I wrote a fun article on how to incorporate it into (or separate it from) the holidays. That can be found in the winter issue of What's Up Families. The magazine is available on newstands now.
I'm working away on lots of fun content for December and I'll do my best to keep you up to date on what's been written where. But for now I'm off to make a few more dozen gingerbread cookies. Jackson's decided that he needs to make a gingerbread mitten for everyone in his class. Personalized with sanding sugar and royal icing initials, of course.
I love your photos---you do such a good job.
And I read the comments on HP---I like how you respond (internally) with such a laid back attitude.
