Welcome! My name is Jan and I am the creator of Mixing Bowl Kids, a family cooking blog! Combining my experiences as a mother and event coordinator for a catering company, with my passion for children, cooking and baking, I have created this blog as a place to share and document the recipes I cook for and with my family.
The recipe testers and mini chefs in my home are my seven and nine year old sons. Both boys love to eat delicious, homemade foods and probably know more culinary terms than they should. Their interest in joining me in the kitchen often shifts from incredibly keen to "I'm too busy right now" but that's okay because I have my husband, who can join me. An awesome cook himself in addition to being a wine and food enthusiast, I love getting into the kitchen with him, and enjoy it even more when he cooks solo for me. Of course, I can't forget the fussiest food tester in our home, our beloved dog, Rosie. She loves homemade broccoli soup, cottage cheese and baked goods of any kind - but isn't too fond of carrots!
Thanks for taking the time to visit. I read each and every one of your comments and try to reply to as many as possible. If you have any questions you'd like to ask, recipes to share or thoughts you'd like to send along, please feel free to email me.
Happy cooking everyone!
